Communication from Georgia

Revision

The following communication under Article 15.2 of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to

Trade has been received from Georgia.

Georgian Law on "Standardization" – adopted on 1 September 1999;

Georgian law on "Ensuring uniformity of measurements"- adopted on 6 September 1996;

Georgian law on "Certification of products and service" – adopted on 6 September 1999;

Georgian law "On Consumer Rights Protection", – adopted on 1 June 1996;

Decree of the Government of Georgia #45 on "The Rule of acknowledgement and application of Technical Regulations of Other Countries by Georgia - adopted 24

February on 2006;

The Decree of the Government of Georgia #170 "On Acceptance of the rule of notification sending and communication on standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures on applicable documents and their drafts"- adopted on

18 September 2009;

Decree of the Geostandard on acceptance of the "Code of Good Practice for the

Preparation, Adoption and Application of Standards" contained in Annex 3 to the WTO

Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade – adopted on 16 April 2003.

TRANSPARENCY

PUBLICATIONS

1.

According to the Georgian legislation, LEPL – Georgian National Agency for Standards,

Technical Regulations and Metrology (GEOSTM) provides registration of the Georgian National standards in the official registry. All adopted Georgian standards are available on the website of

GEOSTM ( http://www.geostm.ge

). All publications of Georgian standards are available for all interested parties.

Technical regulations created by the different authorities of the Government of Georgia are available at on the official website of LEPL – Addition of Legislative Gazette and Statuette Book of

Georgia is the official authority of the Government of Georgia which provides official registry of laws and other regulation.

ENQUIRY POINT

According to The Decree of the Government of Georgia #170 "On Acceptance of the Rule of

Notification-sending and Communication on Standards, Technical Regulations and Conformity

Assessment Procedures on Applicable documents and their drafts" - A WTO TBT National Enquiry

Point has been established in the system of LEPL - Georgian National Agency for Standards,

Technical Regulations and Metrology (GEOSTM), under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable

Development of Georgia.

4.

"GEOSTM" is responsible for publication of the adopted Georgian standards and submission of notifications, according to the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade.
