Pre-requisites and other registration restrictions -- Basic course in Genetics is absolutely essential; course in Molecular Biology is strongly recommended. 7. Format -- Two 80 min lectures. 8. Description -- An advanced course in plant genetics intended to impart students in the molecular track of the Plant Biology Graduate Program with a balanced knowledge of classical and molecular genetics of higher plants, which they can then apply in their research. 9. Course Topics -- Classical and molecular genetics of higher plants, including cytogenetics, breeding systems, linkage analysis, recombination, gene and chromosomal mutations, epigenetics, transposons, map-based cloning, and genomics 10. Examinations -- 2 midterm exams and a final exam 11. Other Requirements: No text book. Required & supplementary readings from articles or selected book chapters. 12.
