Will of John Legassicke 1714
NOTES
This will was sent to me already transcribed many years ago. I cannot remember who
sent it to me. I have typed it up as it was sent to me.
The hamlet of Little Hempston is just outside Totnes
John was a clerk (i.e. priest) and became the Rector of Little Hempston in 1692. I think
he was born in 1668. (This information from D. Pullen via Society of Genealogists)
It appears that John was either not married or had no living immediate family, but
seems to be related to the Legassicks of Modbury but I cannot yet find how.
Some of the properties come up in later years in wills of the Modbury Legassicks
There were other and earlier Legassicks in Little Hempston
Henry Legassick‘s daughter mentioned is Rabidge, but clearly known as Elizabeth after
her mother
