The Engineering Society of Detroit’s
2016 Outstanding Young Engineer
of the Year Award
Please observe the following rules:
1. Nominees must be under the age of 35; please be sure to include candidates full name, address,
phone number and/or cell phone number and email address.
2. All entries must be typed on standard 8 1/2 x 11” paper, on one side of the sheet.
3. Clearly identify each section in the entry with the correct Roman numeral and the alphabetic
division. (See attached requirements.) For section three please choose the Professional Activities
and/or Community Activities that you feel that you have excelled in to qualify for this award.
4. All entries must be received by end of day Thursday, March 31, 2016. No deadline
extensions will be granted.
5. Candidates must be ESD members.

There is no limit to the number of nominees from any organization entering the awards competition,
providing each meets the minimum eligibility requirements and complies with the entry rules. A person
may be nominated more than one year.
The award will be presented at the Society’s annual awards program held in June.

Degrees held, years in which they were granted, fields of study for
each and college or university granting the degree. Include
graduate and post graduate work and board certification where
applicable.
List any academic honors received.
Present employer, position, length of service, responsibilities and
accomplishments.
Names of companies or organizations, positions, titles, length of
service and responsibilities for any other organization since
graduation. Include internships and co-ops if applicable
List special projects/assignments/accomplishments, etc.

Any new devices, methods or theories devised all or in part by
nominee; includes patents or patent applications and any pertinent
information.

pertinent public appearances related to engineering. Give date,
subject matter, location and audience.
Professional and honorary societies in which membership is held.

familiar with your commitment to the above activities. Reference
letters should be sent directly from candidate’s management following
management’s review of candidate’s application. Form letters
nominating more than one candidate will not be accepted for
consideration.
