MULTI – CULTURAL ROUTE OF KOMOTINI - MARONEIA

The multicultural image of the city of Komotini, the harmonic living of people with
different religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds and everyday life, is by all means a
good practice that attracts people’s interest.
In order to make the City, as well as
the cultural sites more accessible, the
municipality designed a route which passes
through major sights, museums, churches and
mosques. Visitors can move around all the
interesting spots, stop to visit museums and
exhibitions and continue their tour outside
the city in the area of Maroneia where
important samples of ancient civilisation are
located.
Objectives:
• Promotion of monuments and traditions of a long lived civilisation and major
elements of a modern multicultural everyday life.
• Development of cultural tourism.
• Link cultural tourism and tourism for seniors.
Results:
Integrated and well promoted attractions on a trail with diverse cultural
characteristics and particularities.
