INTRO TO PORTRAITURE | Townsend Atelier| 201 W Main Street | Chattanooga, TN July 30-31 | instructor: Mia Bergeron SUGGESTED Supply List Palette: wood, glass, or plastic. If you are using disposable palettes, please buy gray colored instead of white. (if you are unable to find your own, Townsend Atelier has plenty on hand you may use) Solvents: I use odorless mineral spirits (turpenoid). Please make sure solvents are ODORLESS. Paper towels: I use Viva Canvas: 12”x16” linen. Please no Frederix Boards or Acrylic primed cotton duck. They tend to soak up oil paint too quickly. Frederix Portrait linen works well (available at Art Creations) or Lead Primed Linen stretched to size is the best (available at Art Warehouse) Paints: Any brand is fine, unless noted. Titatium White Cadmium lemon Indian Yellow Cadmium Red Light (or vermillion) Alizarin Crimson (or Quinacrodone Rose) Magenta Raw Sienna (or Yellow Ochre) Transparent Oxide Red (Rembrandt) Viridian Cerulean Blue French Ultramarine Blue Ivory black Oil Bar in Burnt Sienna (available at Art Creations- specially ordered for class) Brushes: A variety of flat bristle brushes (any brand will work, just make sure the shape is a flat) I also use Royal& Langnickels series 5590 flats. (available at Art Warehouse) Please make sure you have at least 5 brushes ranging in shapes and sizes (flat, rounds and filberts are best... don't bother with brights) *you do not need more than 5 brushes if they range in sizes from ¼”-1.5” Equipment: Jar with a tight lid (Silicoils are great, or Mason Jars) for your solvents. Smock (optional) Hand-held mirror
