JOB DESCRIPTION:
1.0
JOB SUMMARY:
The ECG/EEG Manager is overall accountable and responsible for managing the Unit,
directing, supporting and supervising the staff to deliver a high standard of care to the
patients. He/she is responsible for the organisation of care and the facilitation of
training for Trainee Technicians. In addition, performs the role of Cardiac Coordinator
which involves receiving referrals from regional hospital, acquiring eligibility if
needed and organizing transfer of the patient in liaison with the Cardiologist.
2.0
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1
Professional Functions:
2.1.1
Plans, organizes and participates in the care for the patients and
personally ensures that the standards of care and procedures performed
within the Unit are a high quality. Reports to the Clinical Director if
standards fall below the accepted level.
2.1.2
Monitors and evaluates care within the unit, organizing audits as
required.
2.1.3
Ensures that all agreed Policies and Procedures are correctly
implemented and maintained.
2.1.4
Assists in the development and revision of Policies and Procedures and
in the development of written standards of care for the unit.
2.1.5
Utilizes staff, supplies and equipment economically and effectively.
2.1.6
Promptly reports and investigates complaints and incidents in relation
to the unit in accordance to hospital policy.

Ensures that equipment and materials within the area are used
correctly, economically and regularly checks stock and the care of
equipment.
2.1.8
Takes immediate action on identified hazards or potential hazards and
ensures all staff are aware of steps taken.
2.1.9
Attends meetings as required and serves on such working groups or
Committees as are appropriate.
2.1.10 Establishes and develops effective communication with all disciplines
of staff, patients and relatives.
2.2
2.3
Cardiac Coordinator Function:
2.2.1
Receives referrals from Regional Hospital via Fax.
2.2.2
Informs Cardiologist and acquires eligibility before transfer is
accepted.
2.2.3
Organizes the transfer of the patient in liaison with the Transfer Office,
Cardiologist, Nurse-in-charge of CCU and the referring hospital.
2.2.4
Organizes blood donation to the Blood Bank for patients undergoing
elective Cardiac Surgery.
Educational:
2.3.1
Ensures that all staff are orientated to their posts and are fully aware of
the range of duties and responsibilities.
2.3.2
Organizes and supports Mentors for all new staff.
2.3.3
Ensures all grades of staff attend Fire lectures annually and are updated
in the various regulations relating to the Fire Policy and Health and
Safety at Work.
2.3.4
Takes personal responsibility for own professional development.

Personnel:
Regularly advises staff on their progress and gives guidance on improving
their level of performance. Complete performance appraisals on staff in
conjunction with the Medical Staff.
3.0
HOURS OF WORKS:
48 hours per week for a Hospital Programme employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications or Relevant Experience:
4.1.1
E.C.G. course more than 1 year duration.
4.1.2
Minimum of 3 years working within a Healthcare setting.
4.1.3
Minimum of 2 years working within this field.
4.1.4
A good working standard of spoken English is essential.
Personal Qualities:
4.2.1
The applicant must be able to work as part of a team, maintaining
professional standards and attitudes at all times.
4.2.2
The applicant must be able to work unaccompanied and show initiative
to deal with problems.
4.2.3
The applicant will be a calm, caring person who is sensitive to the
cultural differences inherent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
