William D. Kimsey Dr. William D. Kimsey is a professor of communication at James Madison University and is a member of the graduate faculty. He recently completed his tenure as the Interim Director for the JMU School of Communication Studies. He has published articles on political communication, negotiation, and mediation in Communication Monographs, Mediation Quarterly, Conflict Resolution Quarterly, Canadian Journal of Peace Studies and more. He serves as a consultant in conflict analysis and intervention for government, business and education. In addition to having taught short courses in negotiation, public speaking and research methods at the Hochiminh City Development Learning Center, National University of Vietnam, and Royal Business of Vietnam, he served as a visiting professor with the Hanoi School of Business. He has published articles on speech communication education in Vietnam and Vietnamese negotiation styles in Asian Profiles. He conducts study tours in Ireland examining The Troubles. He teaches undergraduate courses in persuasion, mediation and survey research. He is a co-progenitor for a graduate concentration and certificate program in Strategic Communication with the JMU Master in Public Administration. He is certified as a mediator through the Office of Dispute Resolution Services, Virginia Supreme Court. He is the co-author of the book Mediator Communication Competencies: Problem Solving and Transformative Practices, 5e and CONFLICTALK, an instrument for measuring youth and adolescent conflict styles.
