Act of Teachers’ Instruction Quality Improvement of Far East University
Amended and promulgated in the School Instruction Evaluation Meeting
on June 2nd, 2008
Article 1
This act is drawn up particularly to enhance teachers’ instructional abilities and
increase their instructional quality.
Article 2
This act applies to all teachers, both full-time and part-time, working in Far East
University.
Article 3
To increase the instructional quality, all department chairpersons and coordinators of
each unit of the General Education Center should hold at least one teaching
demonstration every semester. The demonstration records should be submitted to
Academic Affairs Office for reference at the end of each semester.
Article 4
To fully understand the instructional quality, at the end of each semester, the
Academic Affairs Office should have students fill out the on-line instruction
evaluation sheets. The results will be utilized to understand the students’ learning and
they will also be used as a reference for improving instruction and evaluating teachers
(see the attachment for the instruction evaluation sheets).
Article 5
To assure the instruction quality, teachers should upload their syllabus at the
beginning of each semester and, for the convenience of students who require
assistance, confirm their office hours by ticking the appropriate hours online.
Moreover, teachers should post their handouts on line whenever possible. Teachers
should help Instruction Resource Center select teaching assistants and implement
remedial teaching whenever necessary.
Article 6
A meeting should be held both at the beginning and at the end of a semester especially
for teachers of General Educational Center to reach a consensus among those teaching
the same subjects. Teachers should agree on instructional progress, teaching materials,
material compiling, teaching methods, teaching content, equipment demands and
facility maintenance. However, for those who teach professional subjects, the
discussion of the above subjects can be done in the regular department meetings.
Meeting records should be submitted to and kept by the head of General Educational
Center and Department heads.
Article 7
To increase the teachers’ instructional quality, the invited speakers on the keynote
speech, seminars, panel discussions or practical training courses will be paid by the
