Students will use Jack Prelutsky's poem entitled, "I Love You More Than Applesauce" as a template to modify and create their own. The students will read the poem aloud and clap to the rhythm of the poem. Step: 3 Duration: 40 min The students create their own version of the poem by using the writing process to complete the poem template entitled "I Love You More Than..." by Jack Prelutsky and _____________. The students may type their poems into a word processing template and choose any color font to distinguish between the template and their own words. The students may use different colors to highlight rhyming words as well. Step: 6 Duration: 5 min The students will complete the poem checklist to evaluate themselves.
