Is there an age limit for applicants?
All applicants (except medical doctors) must be under 30 years of age on 31
December of the year of application.

Doctors must be under 35 years of age on 31 December in the year of application
and should have completed 18 months of internship and preferably a one-year
rural posting in the relevant country.

Veterinary Surgeons must be under 35 years of age on 31 December in the year
of application and should have completed 12 months of internship.

How many references do I need to submit on my application?
Three References with email addresses;
a) One Character and
b) Two Academic
c) But if working; one Employer, one Academic and one Character.

Yes, signed and scanned references will be encouraged.

What is the closing date for receiving applications?
All applications must be received in full by the Harare or Woking office by 31
August of that year for Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

If I obtained a Credit pass for my Degree, can I apply?
Zambian Postgraduate candidates need either a Merit or Distinction pass in
order to qualify to apply, but for Zimbabwean and Malawian Postgraduate
scholars a credit pass could be accepted. Noting that with the limited number
of Postgraduate scholarships awarded, competition would be fierce.

Must I disclose my residential address and postal address?
Yes, your FULL residential address is very important, but any correspondence
will be sent to your postal address. Submit full addresses please!

Can I only apply to read at Leeds, Rhodes, Stellenbosch, Witwatersrand
Universities or Imperial College?
Not necessarily so, but these universities are among our partner-universities
with whom we have an agreement for joint funding. You have the choice of any
university in UK, Ireland or South Africa.

If I do not reside in Zambia, Zimbabwe or Malawi, can I still apply for a
scholarship
The Beit Trust is restricted by its Constitution to award scholarships only to
those applicants residing in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi for Postgraduate
studies. No other country can be considered.

Can I apply before I have obtained my transcript of marks?
No, you need to have your transcript of marks on hand in order to qualify to
apply.

Is it necessary to have a confirmed place with a university before application?
Candidates who plan to apply to any university in South Africa must obtain an
unconditional offer from the university of their choice in the event that the
have a successful in obtaining an interview. Having an offer is an advantage if
you are selected for an interview.

I have done my first degree; can I now apply to do my Honours?
No, this Scholarship is only for Postgraduate courses, but it is advisable to have
one years work experience in your field before applying.

Is it essential that I have postgraduate work experience?
It is not essential, but as competition dictates preference will normally be given
to those with at least one year relevant work experience in their field.

Should I include the gender of my Referees in my application?
It is very important that we know how to address your Referee on the request
letter, as some names could be either masculine or feminine. It is a professional
salutation.

What details must I provide for each of my Referees?
Referees – Title (Mr. Mrs. Dr. etc), Name, Address, and very importantly
ascertain a current email address.

What is the duration of the courses that The Beit Trust sponsors for an MSc
(Masters)?
- In UK the duration of the courses are 1 (one) year.
- In South Africa the duration of the courses are 2 (two) - 4 (four) years.

We need the Degree, (BA, MSc etc), the Course and Year obtained.

We need the (MSc) Degree required, name of the University of your choice in
