Behavior Support involves teaching positive social skills and recognizing students who
are engaging in behaviors that improve the school climate.
We need your help to recognize these students and are looking for items that they find
reinforcing (e.g., posters, pencils, stickers, etc.) Currently, ________________ County
does not have the financial resources to obtain reinforcers for students who improve the
school climate and engage in positive social interactions. Therefore, we are looking for
reinforcers that are of high interest to our students who are in Kindergarden-12th grade.

I am writing to obtain support from the Orlando Magic to help recognize the efforts of
your local schools in Orange and Osceola County. There are 28 public schools in Orange
and Osceola County implementing a process called School-wide Positive Behavior
Support. The process helps schools to look at the way they are handling discipline on
campus and to make changes so that the schools are more effective and efficient. This
approach emphasizes using behavioral data to make decisions. Schools are focusing on
teaching new social skills which better equip our students to become successful members
of society. One of the key elements is to reinforce students who meet expectations by
demonstrating positive behaviors and reinforcing teachers who are implementing this
philosophy with integrity.
Schools who are implementing Positive Behavior Support are seeing wonderful
outcomes! There have been significant decreases in discipline referrals, more parent
involvement, and a safer school climate. As stated previously, just a small part of Positive
Behavior Support is to acknowledge students when they make good choices and to
recognize staff for their hard efforts. Our schools are in need of community support to
make this work. We would like to meet with you to discuss this initiative taking place in
Orange and Osceola County and how we can form a partnership with the Orlando Magic.
