IMPLEMENTATION DIRECTIVE FOR THE LESSON OF
PARTICIPATION IN THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OF
THE ATILIM UNIVERSITY
PART ONE
Purpose, Scope, Basis
Purpose
Article 1The purpose of this Directive is to determine the implementation of
principles concerning the participation and orientation of the students studying in the
departments of the Atilim University, in the social and cultural activities.
Scope
Article 2(Amendment: Senate Decision dated 01.02.2007 and numbered
02) This Directive covers all students studying in the faculties of the Atilim
University.
Basis
Article 3This Directive has been prepared according to Article 14 of the Law
numbered 2547.
PART TWO
Principles and Functioning
Implementation of the Lesson of Participation in the Social and Cultural
Activities
Article 4(Amendment: Senate Decision dated 01.02.2007 and numbered
02) This lesson shall be non-credit and be included in the 8th semester of the
curriculum of all departments as a required elective lesson (ORY 400 Social and
Cultural Activities (Non- Credit)). It shall orientate the students in the social and
cultural activities to be held at the University. Those students who fail to fulfil the
requirement of this lesson cannot graduate. The students shall be required to
participate in at least one of the social and cultural activities held by the University in
one semester or at least two of the social and cultural activities held in an academic

year. They shall receive the participation certificates to be distributed by the officials
at the end of each activity they participate and shall deliver them to their advisors.
However, following filling out the Follow-up Form for the Lesson of Participation in
the Social and Cultural Activities (Form 1), whose copy is attached, and have it
signed by their advisors, they shall give it to the Student Affairs Directorate to be put
in their files as a measure for certificate loss. The Evaluation Form for the Lesson of
Participation in the Social and Cultural Activities (Form 2) shall be filled out by the
Advisors for those students who prove with the participation certificates that they
have participated in eight activities and shall be delivered to the Student Affairs
Directorate.
PART THREE
Evaluation
Article 5Those students who have participated in at least eight activities at
the end of an education of eight semesters shall be deemed to have passed this
lesson. The grade of this lesson shall be written as (S) and (U).
PART FOUR
Enforcement and Effect
Effect
Article 6(Amendment: Senate Decision dated 01.02.2007 and numbered
02) This Directive shall enter into effect as from the second semester of the academic
year 2006-2007.
PROVISIONAL ARTICLE 1- The numbers of activities required to be participated
in by the students registered in the academic year 2006-2007 are stated below
according to the semester they are in:
2nd Semester student: 7 activities
4th Semester student: 5 activities
6th Semester student: 3 activities
8th Semester student: 1 activity
Enforcement
Article 7The Rector of the Atilim University shall enforce the provisions of
this Directive.
