“THE HORSE” EXHIBITION By Wayne Strickland Australia’s Wayne Strickland widely regarded as the countries greatest living equestrian artist is known internationally for his Bronze sculptures and Oil paintings depicting Australian heritage and the horse. Through his dynamic work Strickland tells us stories about our history and the characters and horses of the bush. “No other animal in history can match the contribution that the horse have made to human civilization,” he says. He has been sculpting and painting for over 30 years and collected many awards along the way. “The Mountain Stockman” recently won south East Asia’s biggest Equestrian sculpture award. He is represented in Major Galleries, private and public collections around the world. Including Australia’s stockman’s hall of fame, the professional rodeo hall of fame, Australia’s racing museum, and Victoria’s national gallery. Wayne’s rural background led to a special affinity for horses and other animals, his attention to his sculptures means he can accurately depict a horses breed and type. One of his more famous works Phar Lap –created under the watchful eye of the famous horse strapper and trainer Tommy Woodcock is on display at Victoria’s national gallery. A former horse judge and rodeo champion Strickland clearly loves the horse. “Many great horses throughout history have touched the imagination of humans across the world and bought with this enormous pleasure and exaltation into our hearts” He says.
