Ikoro Maduka, Heritage Resources Foundation, Nigeria E-mail: herofat@yahoo.com TOPIC: CREATING A MECHANISM FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO ALL - ENHANCING YOUTH POTENTIALS FOR MEANINGFUL GLOBAL CONTRIBUTIONS INTRODUCTION : The world and its natural resources are meant for utilization by all humanity globally. No wonder these resources are equitably distributed in all parts of the world. ANALYSIS OF THE PRESENT SYSTEM : - "leaders take all practise" ; - the "end justifies the means" ; - suppressions and anarchy ; - policies aimed at increasing poverty among the masses ; - fewer persons enjoying the available resources and revenues ; - emphasis on armination acquisition and security at the detriment of the necessities of life. THE WORLD WITHOUT THE YOUTH ACTIVE PARTICIPATION : - no modern visions and thoughts could prevail ; - lack of innovation in all aspect of life ; - less emphasis on education, training, and development ; - technological and social lives hindered ; - policies centered on self gain by few beneficiaries ; - no transperancy, checking and balncing for those policy makers ; - glamour for long term/life term clinhing of political powers ; - lack of preparation for succession in leadership ; - vices and social disorder at alarming level. ENHANCING THE YOUTH POTENTIALS AND INTEGRATING THEM INTO OPTIMAL GLOBAL CONTRIBUTIONS. - adequate emphasis on education, training and development of the youth by adopting favourable policies and budgeting for more funds ; - government, public and private businesses should be conducted transperantly, responsibily, and accountably ; - counselling, guidance, and mentoring of the youth potentials should be encouraged ; - using the youth as political touts, forced armies and for social mishaps must be put to a stop ; - establishment of well equipped, funded, and managed YOUTH INTERNSHIP CENTERS should be pursued as a priority. The centers would serve the following purposes : a) retraining the youth in their chosen careers in line what the society needs ; b) envolving good virtures in the youth ; c) equipping them for enhanced contributions globally ; d) intergating the youth efforts and energies for result oriented contributions ; e) preparing them for leadership roles, successes and challenges. Please, I do hope that this paper shall be included in the proposed Report. Again, I request for the extension of your invitation letter to me on the June Conference for elaborate discussion.
