OUTSTANDING BUSINESS IN PHILANTHROPY
This award honors a business or corporation that demonstrates outstanding commitment through financial support
and motivation of others to take philanthropic leadership. Additional criteria include:
 Evidence of consistent investment in the community.
 Evidence of direct gift support indicated by projects in the community, nationally, and/or internationally.
 Description of impact of gift support on projects or initiatives.
 Description of specific achievements accomplished through the organization’s efforts and funding.
 Evidence of encouragement and motivation given to employees of the organization and others to take
leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.
 Evidence of philanthropic support of innovative approaches to solving problems and sharing of best
practices.
 Please include any further information that explains why you feel this candidate deserves this special award.

We strongly encourage you to obtain permission from the prospective nominee before you submit the
nomination. Award winners are required to be in attendance at the National Philanthropy Day luncheon on
Tuesday, November 17. Please confirm that the nominee can attend before submitting the application.
Please attach a summary narrative to support your nomination of no more than three pages. NOTE: The committee
requires the summary narrative format and does not accept resumes, newspaper articles, etc. in substitution. Please
site specific examples and results of the efforts as they relate to the prescribed criteria noted above. Up to two letters
of recommendation are accepted, but are not required and will only be accepted at the time of the original
nomination submission.
