Co-Teaching Expectations and Agreements Names: David Flores, Andrew Crook Guiding Teacher, placement 1: Mark Gomez Expectations 1. What are you hoping to gain from this student teaching placement? We hope to gain a better understanding of what it means to be an effective teacher. I want to see what it means to teach to student needs and not from a set curriculum. 2. What support do you want from your guiding teacher? What questions do you have so far for your guiding teacher? I want Gomez to provide honest feedback that will help me develop effective lessons, classroom management strategies, and an innovative curriculum. 3. What does your guiding teacher expect from you? How can you support the work that is already going on in your guiding teacher’s classroom? Gomez expects us to follow through with our lesson planning and classroom involvement expectations to the best of our abilities. By meeting up and discussing unit concepts and assignments prior to their introduction to students, we will be on the same page with Gomez and be able to facilitate their implementation and completion with students with little confusion. Agreements 4. What do you need from one another as co-teachers? How can you support one another? We want to work together to help each other learn honesty, respect, support, encouragement, and constructive criticism. 5. What agreements can you make for how you will work together? When will you meet to work on lesson plans and other assignments associated with 330? How will you communicate? Designate a regular checkin time/process for bringing up any issues that may arise. Prior to conducting lessons, Andrew and I will not only organize 6. How often/when will you meet with your guiding teacher? In the next week, make it a point to review this handout with your guiding teacher.
