Co-Teaching Expectations and Agreements Names: David Flores & Andrew Crook Guiding Teacher, placement 1:Mr. Rayos Expectations 1. What are you hoping to gain from this student teaching placement? We hope to gain a better understanding of effective classroom management strategies, an opportunity to create meaningful curriculum relating to student's interests and experiences, and experience with how to create meaningful relationships with middle school students where we can serve as mentors and resources. 2. What support do you want from your guiding teacher? What questions do you have so far for your guiding teacher? We hope that our guiding teacher can offer us constructive feedback on both positives he sees in our teaching pedagogy and especially improvements we can make. Any insight on effective strategies and meaningful content is greatly appreciated. 3. What does your guiding teacher expect from you? How can you support the work that is already going on in your guiding teacher’s classroom? Our guiding teacher expects us to keep him updated on future lessons at the same time as our advisors and ask him for any questions or concerns we may have about particular students. We can support our teacher's current work by continuing effective routines and maintaining a healthy classroom ecology. Agreements 4. What do you need from one another as co-teachers? How can you support one another? We always need to remain open with each other and be honest about how we feel. We are willing to listen to one another and make adjustments to our pedagogy and/or outlook when needed. We will check in with each other consistently both in car rides to Stevenson and with informal meetings in between teaching periods. 5. What agreements can you make for how you will work together? When will you meet to work on lesson plans and other assignments associated with 330? How will you communicate? Designate a regular checkin time/process for bringing up any issues that may arise. Any issues or misunderstandings we have will either be addressed on a one on one basis in class away from students when urgent or in between periods, especially when it comes to adjusting aspects of our lesson. We will check in with each other to work on lesson plans on the Sunday before they are due. Any other assignments or topics of discussion can be discussed in between teaching periods or on car rides to and from Stevenson. 6. How often/when will you meet with your guiding teacher? In the next week, make it a point to review this handout with your guiding teacher. We will meet with our guiding teacher every Monday, 30 minutes before 1st period starts as well as in between periods anytime any immediate feedback and/or questions need to be made or asked.
