A Request for Ribbon of The War of Attrition.
A. The government of Israel has decided to award the Ribbon of The War of Attrition to
soldiers who took part in this campaign and were drafted to the IDF between 11/06/1967 and
8/8/1970 in the regular army, standing army and reserve army. The ribbon began to be
awarded on the 7/5/2003.
B. I would like to bring to your attention information about the bodies who award the
ribbons according to the various groups of people eligible:
(1) The families of those who died during the wars: widows, bereaved parents, war victims
disabled ex-servicemen (of the IDF) from this war – the ribbon will be awarded by the
IDF.
(2) Soldiers of the standing army who are still in service, soldiers of the reserve army who
are still in service - the ribbon will be awarded by the IDF units.
(3) Civilians who are working for the IDF today. In the case of a civilian working for who
has become disabled during this war - the ribbon will be awarded by the centre of civilians
employed by the IDF (CEI) in accordance with the IDF.
(4) Workers in factories of the Israeli Military Industry, workers of national institutions will
apply to the manpower units in the institutions in which they worked.

The institutions specified above, will apply in an ordered muster roll to the ministry
of defense the department of ribbons and decorations.
(5) Civilians who are exempt from military service (that is those who are no longer required
to make reserve duty), disabled ex-servicemen (of the IDF) excluding this war, first degree
rest of kin, widower, widow, son, daughter, parents applying for the ribbon on behalf of the
person who is eligible for it. - the ribbon will be awarded by the Ministry of Defense.
c. If you do not come under a category started in section B (5) specified above please fill in
the details of category D which follows so that we will be able to determine your eligibility
for the Ribbon of the War of Attrition, and so that we will be able to locate your home
address and deliver the ribbon to it.
