STUDENT NURSE TIMETABLE (Example could be)
WEEK 1
Monday am – Orientation with Mentor (arrange Associate Mentor cover if
Mentor DO or A/L)
Monday pm – Shadow Mentor on clinics
Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri continue to shadow Mentor on whatever clinics they are
on.
Mentor to discuss Infection Control, Hub and Spoke, Communication,
Confidentiality, Professionalism, Identification of Learning Opportunities
throughout first week, OPD Objectives/Presentation-check Student accessed
University CPPSU Practise Placement Profile prior to commencing placement.
ENSURE MENTOR HAS STUDENT FOR AT LEAST 4 SESSIONS PER WEEK
(40%)FOR DURATION OF PLACEMENT-Identify to Karen/Fiona where
rostering changes are required to accommodate this learning. Make sure
Student’s are named on worklist’s and off-duty. Make sure you are rostered
to work for Student’s presentation and final assessment on their final week.
WEEK 2 (Wound Assessment/Management))
Monday am – Plastics/Ortho Treatment Room
Monday pm – Plastics/Ortho Treatment Room
Tuesday am – Ortho Treatment Room
Tuesday pm – Ankylosing Spondylitis Wk 1/Rheumatology Adolescents Clinic
Wks 4 & 5 /OPD Project Wk 2 & 3
Wednesday am– Ortho Treatment Room
Wednesday pm – Ortho Treatment Room/ Hand Nurses/ Plastics/
Thursday am – Plastics
Thursday pm – Vascular
Friday am – Ortho Treatment Room/ Virtual fracture clinic
Week 3 (Gynae/Surgical ALL WEEK)
Students should now be rostered onto clinics and being part of the OPD team.
Monday am – Surgical/Gynae
Monday pm – Gynae/Surgical
Tuesday am – Gynae One stop/Surgical
TUESDAY PM- OPD Project
Wednesday pm – Gynae/Surgical
Wednesday pm– Surgical /MIDWAY ASSESSMENT
Thursday am– Gynae/Surgical
Thursday pm – Vascular
Friday am– Gynae/ Nurse Led Ring Pessary
WEEK 4 (Medical/Respiratory/Rheum/Nephrology/Gastro)
Monday am – Medical/ ECG/Haematology/Endocrinology
Monday pm– Chest/ Rheumatology/ Pulmonary Function/Movement disorder

Tuesday am – Rheum/Epilepsy/Care of Elderly Endocrinology
Tuesday pm – Gastro/
Wednesday am –Cardiology/Neuro
Wednesday pm– Renal
Thursday am – Chest/Rheum or Gastro/Renal
Thursday pm – TIA/Haematology/Cardiology
Friday am– Cardiac/TIA
WEEK 5 (Consolidation Week)
MONDAY to FRIDAY – Round – up of any outstanding learning opportunities
not achieved, further development of clinical areas of their interest, self
management of appropriate clinics.
TUES PM - short 5 Minute Presentation of OPD Project to Mentor and one
other member of staff of your choosing.
THURS AM – Final assessment
