PowerPoint Game Instructions
This PowerPoint game is designed to provide participants with a fun and
interactive way to test what they have learned about their cash and health
benefits and work incentive programs from the activities they have participated
in. Please feel free to modify the supplied questions/answers in the PowerPoint
to accommodate any activities you did not conduct, or to accommodate
participants with various disabilities. The rules and instructions for the
PowerPoint are similar to that of the popular television game show, Jeopardy.
Instructions for utilizing the Jeopardy PowerPoint game:
Step 1 – Based upon the size of your group, separate the participants into two or
three teams. Label each team as Team A, Team B, etc. (or have them pick a
unique name for their team).
Step 2 – If possible, recruit a volunteer to keep score on a dry erase board or on a
flip pad on easel, allowing one column per team to track scoring. The facilitator
can also keep score, but it will be much easier if one person does not have to
juggle operating the game and keeping track of the score.
Step 3 – Open up the “Benefits-Jeopardy-Game-PowerPoint.ppt” and start the
slideshow by clicking on the “Slideshow” tab at the top of the window, and
choosing “From Beginning” on the top left.
Step 4 – Advance the slide by clicking with your mouse anywhere on the screen,
or by using the right arrow key on your keyboard. Once you reach Slide #2, stop
there. This slide contains a board containing four categories, with each category
containing four different point values (200, 400, 600, & 800).
Step 5 - Explain the rules to each team as follows:
 Each team, when it is their turn, will choose a category and a point
value.
 When it is a team’s turn to play, have them choose a category and a
point value. Once they choose a specific category and point value, you
will click on the chosen number representing the point value for that
category and a question will appear.
 After asking the question, wait for the team to provide an answer.
o If the team is able to answer it correctly, then they will get the
points.
o If the team tries to answer the question, but are not able to come
up with anything, the opposing team will then have a chance at
answering the same question.
o If the opposing team supplies the correct answer then they will
get the points for that question.
o If neither team can supply the correct answer, then neither team
will be awarded any points for that particular question.
o To display the correct answer, click anywhere on the slide and it
will appear. ** Be careful not to advance the slide too far (by
clicking past the point where the answer appears), otherwise the
next question/answer will appear. **
o After a team has answered correctly or incorrectly, and have been
awarded or not awarded the point value, move on to the next
question.
o To get to the next question click on the “Back” button found on
the bottom left side of the screen.
 Once back to the category board, repeat the steps above.
Step 6 – Begin Playing the Game
A. After the playing team chooses a category by clicking on the point value,
a Question will pop up. Whichever team is taking its turn will try and
answer the question.
If the team participants are able to provide an answer, allow them to
give their answer
OR
If the team participants are unable to provide any answer at all, then
allow the opposing team an opportunity to answer and receive the
winning points.
OR
If neither team is able to provide an answer, then go ahead and proceed
with the instructions below to display the correct answer.
B. Once an answer has been given, you will want to display the correct
answer. You can do this by clicking with your mouse anywhere on the
screen, or by using the right arrow key on your keyboard and the
Answer should appear. ** Reminder: Be careful not to advance the slide
too far (by clicking past the point where the answer appears), otherwise
the next question/answer will appear. **
i. If a correct answer is given, have the scorekeeper write down the
winning points for the team who provided the correct answer.
ii. If neither team is able to provide the correct answer, then neither
team is awarded any points and you can move on to the next
question.
iii. To move on to the next question, simply click on the “Back”
button found on the bottom left corner of the Slide. At this point,
you will return to the category board page and the team, whose
turn it is, will choose another specific category and point value.
iv. Once all of the questions have been answered, the team with the
highest amount of points is the winner. Prizes can be awarded to
participants on the winning team (if available).
