The building used as Bethany Orphanage was originally the Union Church used by the Lutherans and Presbyterians in Middle LaHave from 1864
to
1901 when a separate building was erected by each congregation. It was brought up the river on the ice and then taken to its new location in Oak
Hill . (I think there is still a road there called Orphanage Road). The building is now a bread and breakfast in Bridgewater.
