From 24 October to 25 November 2013, the exhibition of NTG "The Wildlife of Eastern
Rhodopes" visits Varna (at the Black Sea coast) and Sliven (Central Bulgaria).
The official opening in Varna is at 10:30, on October 24th and it is part of the Day of the
Netherlands. The Ambassador of the Netherlands Tom van Oorschot and the Mayors of
Varna and Dordrecht Ivan Portnih and Arno Brok. City residents and visitors can see 13 NTG
photographs in a joint with the Dutch Embassy exhibition that also presents the modern
Netherlands in the lobby of the Varna Municipality ( 43, Osmi primorski polk Blvrd).
13 other photos from "The Wildlife of Eastern Rhodopes" will be displayed in the House of
Water (Municipal Environmental Center) in Sliven. The official opening is also on October 24,
11 am.
"The Wildlife of Eastern Rhodopes" presents breathtaking landscapes, magnificent mammals
, rare birds and reptiles, flowers and mysterious insects from this beautiful and little known
Bulgarian region. Biodiversity of Eastern Rhodopes is one of the richest and most preserved
in Europe: includes 1962 plant and 4329 animal species.
The exhibition is organized by the New Thracian Gold – Bulgaria Foundation in cooperation
with Crossbill Guides Foundation and Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation with the media
partnership of Vesti.bg.
So far, "The Wildlife of Eastern Rhodopes" was presented with a great success in Sofia,
Burgas, Kardzhali, Blagoevgrad, in the Visitor Information Center and the National Park
"Rila"and in the Nature Park "Belasitsa".

New Thracian Gold is a five-year project (2009-2014) for the sustainable development of the Eastern
Rhodopes. Dutch and Bulgarian experts cooperate on ecotourism, sustainable development,
biodiversity/wildlife, organic farming, PR/communication work. The team is supported by two Dutch
foundations – ARK, with experience in nature conservation and Avalon, specializing in organic
farming. The project is financed by Dutch Postcode Lottery, the biggest charity lottery in the
country.
New Thracian Gold is a unique project with an integrated approach combining the work on three
components: wildlife, organic farming and ecotourism.
