Alfred Century Bicycle Tour The Re-enactment of a September 1895 Bicycle Century (100-mile tour) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2008 8:00 A.M. until ?? Tour begins and ends at Almond Municipal Building, Almond, N.Y. (I-86 Exit 33) REGISTRATION: Beginning at 7:00 A.M. at Almond Municipal Building COURSE DESCRIPTION: Retracing the original 1895 Century route, the route is entirely paved. The course goes through Scio, Belmont, Friendship and Cuba to Olean and back, follows rivers, streams, railroad tracks and a deserted canal bed. The course will be marked and include turn-arounds for 50 miles and 25 miles. Participants will be given a course map and directions. REST STOPS: Olean Wholesale Grocery Co-Op, Inc. is the 100-mile turnaround location. Bikers can make rest stops at convenient stores located along the route in Scio, Belmont, Friendship and Cuba. FEES: Cost to participate is $20.00. Proceeds will benefit Genesee Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Alfred University campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity in their efforts to build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter. ------------------------------------------------YES!
