Program Participation Questions

4. The LA Fellows program is provided to participants at no cost. LA Fellows will participate in unpaid training and unpaid volunteer work. LA Fellows will still be eligible to receive unemployment benefits. Are you able to economically support yourself during the LA Fellows program?

5. An important component of the LA Fellows program is volunteer work that may require a background check and drug testing. Do you anticipate any challenges in this area?

6. Upon acceptance to the program, LA Fellows must complete enrollment forms and requirements at the mandatory orientation. Items needed if applicable : Valid CA ID/License, Social Security Card, or if not a

US citizen, Right-to-Work documents (Valid US Passport or Alien Card); Selective Services (CPC/verify);

Unemployment Insurance Documents (EDD); Lay-off WARN Notice. Do you anticipate any challenges providing this information and documents?

3. LA Fellows Personal Statement

Please submit a one to two page personal statement that provides a clear indication of your professional goals and interests. When writing your personal statement, describe relevant work and volunteer experience and outline your career objectives. Tell us about your job search, what’s working, what’s not working, and how can LA Fellows help you.

If you are selected for the program, what are your expectations of the LA Fellows experience? Tell us why you would like to be an LA Fellow. Be sure to include any other information you think would be helpful to determine your ability to succeed in the LA Fellows program.
