COURSE DESCRIPTIONS 2014 NEC CHANGES AN NJ LAW 10 hrs THIS COURSE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL NJ CONTRACTORS & JOURNEYMAN This course covers most changes in the NEC based on Analysis of Changes, for 9 hours. And 1 hour NJ law ( not available before Feb. 2014) TRANSFORMERS: 4 hrs Course covers trans former theory operation and connections, along with applicable requirements of the NEC. KVA ratings, grounding, overcurrent protection and system voltages will be discussed, along with graphic presentations detailing article 450 of the NEC. MOTOR INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS: 4 hrs Course emphasizes the proper application of NEC article 430 regarding the installation of motors and motor operated equipment. The proper sizing and selection of branch circuit conductors, overcurrent protection, overload protection, disconnecting means and motor controller are covered SERVICES: 4 hrs Course covers requirements of article 230 NEC as well as some local utility requirements. Issues such as Number of services, disconnects, clearance requirements, overcurrent protection and grounding and bonding requirements CONDUCTOR INSTALLATIONS: 4 hrs. Course content includes selection of conductors , derating , conductor installation enviroment conductor material ,stranding , and temperature limitation requirements . MOTOR BASICS: 2 hrs Course focus on motor theory, history and development of the motor operation principles, types of motors connection diagrams and basic motor troubleshooting REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS: (ART.110) 2hrs A complete review of article 110 including such issues as: conductors, wiring methods, temperature limitations, work space requirements. And their impact with regard to other articles of the code. RACEWAY AND BOX FILL CALCULATIONS 2hrs Course covers all considerations associated with determining the proper size box and raceway. Raceways with like and different type and size wire will be sized using the appropriate tables. Box fill for branch circuit as well as pull boxes for feeders will be addressed. WIRING METHODS (ART.300) 2hrs This course covers items such as physical protection of conductors, underground installations ,burial Depths and backfill requirements . Wiring in ducts and environmental spaces . Additionally rules for the most commonly used wiring methods covered in chapter 3 will be summarized A.F.C.I. PROTECTION 2 hrs This course the evolution of A.F.C.I. PROTECTION from it’s inception to present code requirements. POOLS AND SPAS 4 Hrs Course Covers The Installation Of Pools, Spas, HydroMassage Tubs. Among The Items Discussed Are Branch Circuit Wiring Methods, Burial Depth Requirements, Grounding &Bonding, Of The Pool And Surrounding Metal Parts. Disconnecting Means, GFCI Protection Of The Pool Equipment, Lighting And Receptacles In The General Area Of The Pool, Spa And Other Equipment Covered By NEC Article 680. 2011 Nec Changes Recap 5 Hrs A condensed version of the Analysis of Changes of the 2011 NEC chapter 1 to 4 article 517 &680 are covered.
