Geology of Industrial Minerals is a specialized federal state unitary enterprise of Ministry of
Natural resources of Russia, carrying out fundamental and applied studies in geology,
investigation, reconnaissance and evaluation of deposits of non-metallic mineral resources. It is
able to provide all necessary scientific methodological, information analytical and standardizing
assurance as well as arbitration procedures, complex laboratory investigations and technological

Geological and economical center (GEC)
This center provides scientific and methodological assurance of geological reconnaissance,
feasibility studies for the programes of development and utilization of non- metallic mineral raw
materials. It also drafts, creates and sets standards for legal documents, papers for geological
investigation of mineral resources and their licensing.
Activities of the Institute:
1. Forecasting of mineral type and geoeconomic evaluation of mineral resources and
deposits.
2. Geological surveys, reconnaissance and evaluations.
3. Setting legal standards for geological investions and development of mineral resources.
4. Provision of maintenance in the development of mineral raw material complexes in
Russia, its regions and branches of industry.
5. Analysis and forecast of home and overseas markets; geomarketing of mineral resources
and products.
6. Giving expert opinion on plans, projects and licensing documentation dealing with
natural and technogenic objects of nonmetallic raw materials.
The center can provide:
1. Methodical recommendations on the forecast of mineral type and geoeconomic estimate
of resources and non-metallic deposits.
2. Data bases and banks, software for various solutions of problems connected with the
development of raw material complexes, introduction of monitoring of raw materials and
markets, mapping of deposits using GIS technologies.
Special Computer Analytical Center (SCAC)
This center is a part of the Federal information analytical system at the Ministry of Natural
Resources of Russia and provides the state Bank with digital geological information as well as
data in regard to non-metals.

Analytical technological center for certifying and testing (ATCEC)
(Certificate of GOSSTANDART of RUSSIA N ROCC RU .0001.510445)
This center carries out a complete set of analytical mineralogical and technological
investigations to study and assess non-ore raw materials.
Activities:
1. Quantitative chemical, (crystalline) structural, mineralogical and X-ray analyses of nonore raw materials, products of enrichment and their derivatives as well as various
analyses to determine the presence of heavy metals in natural waters, soils, bed residues,
grounds, plants` ashes and foodstuffs.
2. Development and metrological certifying of standardizing methodological and
standardizing technical documentation as well as (norms and) standards dealing with the
quality assessment and feasibility of extraction, processing, etc. of the raw materials.
3. Development of standards for structural and element composition and basic physicomechanical parameters.
4. Certification of raw matherials and products obtained from them.
5. Arbitration and control functions.
6. Development of technologies to increase concentration in raw matherials and their
processing and testing in small samples as well as quality assurance for production.
