Total __________________ Every biome in the world is a complex structure including many habitats with their characteristic organisms and different levels of complexity. It is critical that we understand the interdependent roles of plants, animals, the physical landscape and human influence. In an effort to protect their ecosystems, many counties are now promoting ecotourism within their countries. People from all over the world come to explore the environment; discover how the ecosystem works; and how humans can impact the biome in positive and negative ways. You and your partners have been hired to create an advertisement to promote ecotourism in the aquatic biome known as ___________________________. Ecotourism involves exploring the biome of that country. In this project we will emphasize the aquatic biomes found in a particular area. People travel into the wilderness, and explore the environment looking at the plants and animals. They want to see how the ecosystem works and how we impact it in both positive and negative ways. You have been hired to create an advertisement that includes a virtual tour of an aquatic biome. The advertisement should contain a voice over narrative or music to accompany the video/presentation. The presentation should be informative and short to attract attention. The attached rubric has the requirements. You should discuss both the ecosystem and the human impact on the ecosystem. How does the culture of the area help or harm the environment? How are people having a positive or negative impact? How have plants and animals adapted to the environment? What is unique and why would someone want to visit? What unique features of the aquatic biome would visitors experience if they traveled with your company? (Whale watching in the Pacific Ocean, duck hunting in the freshwater wetlands of South Georgia, alligator hunting in the Okefenokee swamp are some examples.) Be creative to create your advertisement. Always keep in mind that this is an advertisement and intended to attract people to the area as tourists! Your final product should be downloaded on to a CD or a flash drive and turned in with all group member names on it. We will work in class on Thursday and Friday 9/29 and 9/30. The project is due at the end of class on Friday 9/30.
