Transfer to Royal National Hotel to leave bags. (Check-in opens at 2:00 p.m.)

Orientation Tour of London: Hop on / hop off bus tour, featuring St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower
Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben & Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Globe Theatre,
Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park, and others.
Eager Beavers Tour: Meet with Dr. Cunningham for first look at the British Museum: guided
tour by Dr. Cunningham. Highlights: Sutton Hoo; Anglo-Saxon Exhibition; Roman
Britain; Classical Antiquities such as Portland Vase and Athenian marbles.
Evening
Eager Beavers Tour: 6:00 p.m. leave from hotel lobby for picnic in Kensington Gardens; St
Paul's by Moonlight or Trafalgar Square lions and fountain (Dr. Dahlberg).
More hop on / hop off bus tour exploring: Tower of London, Roman Wall, Fleet Street...

Cabinet War Rooms Museums (Dr. Preuss).
Option two: 1:00: Meet in hotel lobby for tour of British Library's Great Books Rooms or in the
World Masterpieces Room of British Library at 1:30. (Dr. Cunningham)
Option three: 1:00: Pre-paid group meet in hotel lobby for Geffrye Museum Alms House Tour

Morning

Option One: Meet in lobby at 9:00 am for Dickens House Tour possibly including John Soane’s
House tour. (Dr. Dahlberg)
Option Two: Meet in lobby at 9:00 am for tube trip to Greenwich to see Queen’s house, Royal
Naval College, Isle of Dogs, etc. (Dr. Cunningham and Dr. Preuss)
Afternoon
Meet hotel lobby, 1:00: Tube tour of Royal Exchange Area and Guild Hall Tour of Roman and
Medieval London (Dr. Dahlberg and Dr. Laity).
Evening
Option One: Jack the Ripper tour: Walking tour of East End. See Dr. Preuss to sign up and prepay. ($8)
Option Two: concession tickets to theater in London’s West End (retrieve tickets from Dr. Laity
if you signed up last night—Be sure to see Dr. Laity well before showtime!)

Day Four - London, England
Morning
Royal National Hotel - Breakfast Before 9:00 a.m.
5:00 am early-bird option: Night bus or taxi ride to Bermondsey Market; meet in hotel lobby
at 5:00 am (Dr. Cunningham). Optional return in time for breakfast, or breakfast on your
own.
9:00 am departure from hotel lobby to tour Museum of London; see Fire of London exhibition
Cheapside Hoard; Temple of Mithras Exhibition; Roman London; Medieval London and
Roman wall. (Dr. Laity)
Afternoon
Option one: 1:00 pm meet in hotel lobby for free concert at St. Martin in the Fields. (Dr. Preuss)
Option two: 1:00 pm meet in hotel lobby for British Museum tour and activities. Highlights:
Sutton Hoo; Anglo-Saxon Exhibition; Roman Britain; Classical Antiquities such as Portland
Vase and Athenian marbles. (Dr. Laity &Cunningham)
Option three: 11:30 a.m. leave hotel for 12:00 free concert of Indian music at Royal Albert Hall.
Optional tours of Charing Cross Rd. used bookstores.
Evening
Option one: 5:30 p.m. leave from hotel with picnic food for picnic on Thames River, Bankside,
Southwark. Pre-paid group attend production of Coriolanus at Globe Theatre (Dr.
Cunningham). Late-night tour around St. Paul's Cathedral by moonlight.
Option two: 6:00 p.m. leave from hotel for 7:30 p.m. concert at St. Martin in the Fields
(additional charge, 6 pounds).

Afternoon
Option One: Meet at 1pm for trip to Imperial War Museum London. (Dr. Preuss)
Option Two: 1 pm. Dates with the Tates: Meet in hotel lobby for Tate Britain for Pre-Raphaelite
painters, William Blake, Turners; Lunch possible at the Tate Britain. Then on to Tate
Modern (scheduled arrival at Tate Modern, 3:30?). (Dr. Cunningham & Dr. Laity)
Evening
First group dinner (included in cost of trip).
5:30 dinner at: the Anchor, Bankside

Option Two: Westminster Abbey services (Dr. Preuss) followed by visit to Speaker’s Corner at
Hyde Park.
Option Three: Walking tour of the Inns of Court (Dr. Dahlberg).

Option One: Meet 1.00pm hotel lobby. Writers Walk of London (Dr. Laity)
Evening
7:00 p.m. – 2nd group dinner (included in cost of trip)
