Virginia is currently working as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Maidment. As a
graduate research assistant her work is focused on developing an Integrated Drought
Information System for the State of Texas.
Peace Corps Samoa 06/2004 to 06/2006
As a volunteer in the Peace Corps, Virginia worked in Village Based Development
Program. Her work was split between the national water and sewer projects and small
scale village with development projects. Her work included hydrologic design,
environmental impact analysis, establishing electronic standards for design using
computer programs, site planning, and structural design.
Some of the village projects she worked on included planning a primary school
renovation, creating a freshwater pool (village of Auala), designing a media
lab/community school center (village of Asau), managing a project to build rain
catchments for water deprived communities, helping to create a homework center and
making a sea turtle conservation pool (village of Auala). Additionally, she helped started
a library and a literacy program in the village of Auala.

Virginia worked on site planning design, road and highway design/expansion. Her work

required work for site planning and road design.
