2015 NEXT GENERATION CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
National Storytelling Network
Kansas City, Missouri – July 30-August 2, 2015
National Storytelling Network (NSN) is offering Next Generation Conference Scholarships to young adults interested in
using storytelling in their respective fields. Recipients of the scholarships will be paired with others at the conference that
will act as guides and resources during the conference. Information about the conference may be found on the NSN
website (www.storynet.org). Contact Karin@storynet.org with any questions.
Who May Apply:
• Adults ages 18-30 (graduated or no longer attending high school), interested in using storytelling in their respective
fields, i.e., education, psychology, museum educator, environmental educator, healing arts, law, religion, business,
theatre, freelance storytelling, etc.
Winners Receive:
• Free admission to full conference, beginning with Thursday evening’s opening through Sunday luncheon – includes
Friday Story Slam, Saturday Awards ceremony and reception, and a ticket for the Sunday afternoon concert. (Does
not include pre-conferences or Thursday’s master classes. Does not include meals, except Sunday lunch.)
• Three nights shared lodging at conference hotel-Kansas City Country Club Marriott.

Must provide own transportation to/from conference
Must be willing to share a room with another scholarship recipient or conference attendee
Must pay own food and incidental expenses (parking, etc.)
Winners will be required to work as a volunteer during the conference and meet with a Next Generation coordinator
Winners will be asked to complete an evaluation, to provide ideas for attracting younger people to the conference,
and to write a letter to thank scholarship contributors
At least one scholarship will be awarded. If additional funding is received, additional scholarships will be granted.
Members of the Next Generation Scholarship Committee will judge applications and determine scholarship winners.
Applications are due May 26, 2015. Winners will be notified by June 10, 2015 and must register for the conference by
June 30, 2015. If you have already paid your registration fee to meet the May 12th early-bird deadline, it will be
refunded to you, or you can re-direct funds to the pre-conferences and/or master classes.
