The Global Social Venture Competition is the largest and oldest student-led business plan competition providing mentoring, exposure, and prizes for social ventures from around the world. The mission of the GSVC is to catalyze the creation of social ventures, educate future leaders and build awareness of social enterprises. The GSVC is organized by the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in cooperation with 5 Regional Partners and 4 Outreach Partners. Since its inception in 1999, the GSVC has awarded more than a quarter of a million dollars to emerging social ventures and has introduced early-stage social venture entrepreneurs to the investment community. Nearly 25% of past GSVC entrants are now operating companies. GSVC (China Region) is run by its Outreach Partner • Guanghua School of Management, University of Peking. Beyond The Pivot, a HKU student-initiated NGO, has the honour of becoming the Hong Kong Partner. The Organizing Committee of GSVC China is now inviting entries from across China including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Applicants are required to submit the business plans online before Nov 24. The entries can be in either English or Chinese. The Assessment Committee will select teams to join the semifinal and final rounds to be held in Beijing on 4-6 December. The top three groups of China will be sponsored to participate in the final round of Asia GSVC in INdia, and the winner will be sponsored to join the global final in U.S to compete for the Awards with prizes of US$25,000, US$15,000, and US$10,000.
