Design for motivation. Using didactics as a design science in order to enhance motivation for learning science. Abstract. In this research proposal the need for enhanced science education is stressed. Science literacy deals with the ability to understand the natural world around us, to draw conclusions from it and to discuss the human interventions in the natural world. In order to enhance students motivation to learn and use science this research proposal endeavours to develop designed research based teaching interventions and investigate their impact on motivation. The informants are Swedish upper secondary students from the natural science program. In collecting data from questionnaires, interviews the author sets out to get reliable answers to his research questions about teaching and motivation. If there is a viable connection between designed teaching interventions and student motivation then other subjects of the science curriculum can be the domain for a teaching intervention.
