SAINT PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL, DUBLIN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT SAINT PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL Built in honour of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral stands adjacent to the famous well where tradition has it Saint Patrick baptised converts on his visit to Dublin. The parish church of Saint Patrick on this site was granted collegiate status in 1191, and raised to cathedral status in 1224. The present building dates from 1220. The Cathedral is today the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland (a church of the Anglican Communion). As well as its primary purpose as an ancient and living place of worship – Saint Patrick’s is open to people as an architectural and historical site and is one of Ireland’s busiest tourist attractions with approximately 400,000 visitors per annum. The Cathedral is also popular as a venue for concerts, graduation ceremonies and other events. JOB DESCRIPTION This post is a full time permanent post (after successful period of probation). The successful candidate will be required to work 9.00-1700 Monday to Friday (35 hour week). Occasional additional hours will be required and overtime is payable for these. The successful candidate should be motivated, capable of working on her/his own initiative and of working with others. Salary in the region of €22,000 MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Deal with all telephone calls and visitors to the office Manage the Cathedral diary and database – this is critical to the smooth running of both the Cathedral and office Manage tour company bookings for visits to the Cathedral Organise requests for secular events in the Cathedral, liaising with the event organisers and Cathedral manager Organise requests for guided tours Credit control for accounts receivable, including the preparation of invoices. Maintaining an accurate list of tour companies and tour operators Invoicing for secular events All necessary photocopying All aspects of incoming and outgoing mail Prepare mail shots for posting Order all necessary supplies Attend training courses and meetings as directed by Cathedral management Other duties as directed by the Office Manager 1
