Cleaning Checklist Interior Cabinets/Drawers/Countertops Clean the inside and outside of cabinets and drawers, remove any shelf paper. Clean all countertops. Sink/Faucet Clean sinks and faucets to include all accessories such as sink stoppers, garbage disposal, rubber gaskets, etc. Do not use drain cleaners. Refrigerator Refrigerators will be cleaned inside and out, to include all parts, trays and rubber gaskets. After defrosting and cleaning, the refrigerator is to be LEFT RUNNING with the thermostat set at the lowest setting and the door closed. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice or frost buildup. a.) Refrigerator should be free of frost. b.) Remove all marks, food particles and stains, clean inside including shelves, crisper, butter container, etc. c.) Clean exterior, to include door handles, door gaskets, top, and front. Range If oven is self-cleaning, run self-clean cycle (call if any questions) and clean inside thoroughly. DON’T USE OVEN CLEANER. Clean exterior of all marks, stains, grease and food. Any remaining carbon deposits inside oven, on oven grates, or burners need to be removed (dry steel wool works great). DO NOT use anything abrasive on the stove top as it will scratch the surface. Walls/Ceilings/Woodwork/Baseboards/Ledges and Doors All hangers and nails in woodwork or wall surfaces will be removed. If a claw hammer must be used to pull the nail, a block of wood placed between the head of the hammer and the surface from which the nail is to be pulled will prevent wall damage. DO NOT FILL NAIL HOLES OR SPOT PAINT. a.) Clean walls/doors/baseboards; wallpaper, borders, and decals must be removed b.) All doors, if taken down will be re-hung. c.) Clean all ledges over doors, windows, window sills, and door tops. d.) Remove cobwebs from corners of ceilings, including basements and porches, where applicable. e.) Rooms painted non-standard colors must be returned to BBC approved interior color. Pest Control All Pest control services must be accomplished prior to final termination. Light Fixtures All light fixtures (inside and outside of the home) will be clean with all bulbs working. Carpet/Floors/Stairs All flooring surfaces are to be cleaned and stain free. a.) If resident had pets, all carpeted areas must be professionally cleaned—all stains removed, odor free, and completely dry before final inspection. b.) A copy of the receipt for professional carpet cleaning (with pets) must be given to your inspector at the final inspection. c.) If you did not have pets, carpets must be vacuumed and or cleaned to ensure no visible stains or odors. Bathrooms Clean bathtubs, showers, sinks, drain stoppers, mirrors, floors and commodes. All cabinets and drawers, medicine cabinet surfaces (ledge shelves, shelf holders, etc.) must be cleaned. Closets Clean all closet doors, shelves and walls. Windows/Storm Doors/Window Coverings a.) All storm windows, doors, and screens must be in place. b.) Window and door blinds will be left clean and hanging properly. Heat Registers Clean heat registers and vacuum visible ducts underneath. Patio/Storm & Screen Doors a.) Clean all glass and panels. b.) Sweep tracts clear of debris. Storage Sheds (if provided) a.) Remove all personal items and debris. b.) Clean interior and exterior. c.) Shed floor should be left free of all soils and fluids left over from lawnmowers, weedeaters, etc. Garage a.) Remove all personal property. b.) Remove all nails, hooks from walls and ceiling. c.) Garage floor, shelving, and designated parking areas are to be left free of all soils and automotive fluids. Exterior a.) Your lawn must be neatly mowed, raked, trimmed and edged (Refer to the Housing Guide for Standards on lawn maintenance). b.) Police yard and remove all debris including trash, leaves, animal feces, etc. c.) Remove all dirt, mud, chalk, crayon, oil, grease or other substances off sidewalks, patio, and driveway. Snow/ice must be removed if present. d.) Grassed areas that have become worn due to pedestrian traffic or pets, will be repaired in advance of termination so that the grass will be growing prior to inspection. This may be done by tilling and seeding, or by sod replacement (Sod must be rooted prior to final inspection). e.) Return any modified landscaping back to the original condition, unless written management approval has been given. f.) Properly remove Satellite Dish, when applicable. g.) Window wells will be free of debris. Trash Can/Recycle Bins Empty, and rinsed clean. Keys/Remotes Must return all assigned house, mailbox keys and remote controls. Resident will be held responsible for damage exceeding fair wear and tear. Examples of such items are listed below, but not limited to: Unauthorized painting, broken windows/screens, lost keys and/or remote controls, holes in walls or doors, offensive odors, damage caused by either installing/removing satellite dishes, damaged flooring and/or carpet, pet damage, fences or improper care of landscaping.
