2. Illustration of My Rock’s UseUsing the information you learned in assignment #1, hand draw a colorful illustration showing at least one way your rock is used. Remember to make your picture big and try to use as much of the white space as possible. Background details should be included. Write a picture caption above or below your illustration.
3. Mighty Minerals -Research to find out these facts about the mineral you selected. Create a chart to organize the information. Your information will be recorded as short answers, not sentences. Write the title of your mineral at the top of the chart.

Billboard of My Mineral’s Use-
Using the information you learned in assignment #3, design and hand draw a colorful billboard to advertise one use for your mineral. If you don’t know what a billboard is, look it up in a dictionary. Remember, you’re trying to convince someone to buy the product made from your mineral.
Use as much of the white space as possible and add details to enhance your advertisement.
5. My BirthstoneEvery month has a birthstone, sometimes there’s more than one.
Research to find out these facts about your birthstone:
Name of Birthstone
Color(s)
Where is it located?
What uses does it have?
Are there any special legends or myths about it?
Present the information in any method you choose (collage, paragraph, chart, diagram).

Fossils are FunPretend you are a paleontologist and you just uncovered a new fossil for your collection. Write a paragraph describing your fossil. Your paragraph should include:
A topic sentence that grabs the readers attention
What type of fossil you found? (mineral, mold, cast, or trace)
Where was it found?
What formed the fossil? (specific animal or plant)
Why is it an interesting addition to your collection?
7. Fossil IllustrationHand draw and color an illustration of your fossil (see #6). Include the setting that shows where your fossil was found. Write a picture caption to go with your illustration.
