FLY THEM HOME IN 2014
Titanic Belfast and United Airlines launch amazing Gathering prize
Have you a loved one in North America who you haven’t seen for many moons?
Titanic Belfast, birthplace of the world’s most famous ship, has teamed up with United Airlines and
Cool FM/Downtown Radio and Hilton Belfast to offer entrants the opportunity to bring home friends
or loved ones from the US as part of the visitor attraction’s Festival of Family and Friends - a
‘Gathering’ initiative - next month.
From November 4-10, Titanic Belfast’s Festival of Family and Friends will celebrate history, culture and
heritage, as well as free genealogy and family tree research with PRONI (Public Records Office of
Northern Ireland) and findmypast.ie.
The ‘Fly them Home in 2014’ competition is open to island of Ireland residents, who simply have to
compose a 300-word message as to why their loved ones should be chosen to come home.
The winners will fly into Belfast, Northern Ireland from Newark/New York, courtesy of United Airlines.
A spokesperson for United Airlines said: “United Airlines is pleased to be supporting this event which
brings families together. United has served Belfast since 2005 and offers a direct service from Belfast
to New York/Newark where customers can connect to destinations across the Americas.”
To be in with a chance of winning two flight tickets, simply log-on to www.coolfm.co.uk and enter!
Four finalists will be invited for an overnight stay in Belfast and tickets to The Dance at Titanic Belfast
with George Jones on November 4. Cool FM/Downtown Radio listeners will vote for the overall winner
who will be announced at the Family Fun Day at Titanic Belfast on Sunday November 10.
The Festival of Family and Friends at Titanic Belfast promises to be an engaging and entertaining
seven-day ‘Gathering’ for people of all ages and cultures with many free, and exclusive, events.
It launches with The Dance in the Titanic Suite, a glorious return to Ireland’s Showband era with the
stage stars of yesteryear hosted by Downtown Radio’s George Jones.

On Saturday, November 9, the historic Strand Cinema will be transformed back to the 1930s for a
special showing of William MacQuitty’s Titanic movie A Night To Remember.
There’s even an occasion for sports fans – Rinty Monaghan, A Sailortown Hero; a talk given by boxing
historian and author Barry Flynn.
The festival concludes on Sunday, November 10, with a family fun day, live music, arts and crafts and
games for everyone to enjoy at Titanic Belfast.
