Three Historic Dimensions to Revival

Foundational Principles for the House of Prayer
 Intimacy with God/The Beauty of the Lord. “One thing I
have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: all the days of my
life, to behold the beauty of the Lord….” (Psalm 27:4)
o David’s preoccupation was not war or carrying out
“kingly” ministry, but infatuation with knowing the Lord
and gazing on His beauty. The beauty of the Lord was
central in His establishing of the first 24/7 prayer
ministry.
o This includes the revelation that God has affections
and a burning desire for weak, immature humans.
o This combination of desiring to know God’s beauty and
wanting to experience His emotions for humans are two
main essentials for maintaining 24/7, enjoyable prayer.
o The primary focus must be on ministering to the Lord
and not repentance (unless directed by the Holy Spirit)
or binding the devil.
o The strength of this end-time prayer movement is
anchored in having a new picture of God’s heart for us.
Our spiritual identity is found in first being lovers of
God before being workers for God.
 The “Harp and Bowl” model, or combining musical
worship and intercessory prayer (Rev. 5:8).
o Worship is agreement with who God is, and
intercession is agreement with what God promises to do.
o All effective spiritual warfare is rooted in agreement
with God and then one another (Psalm 133:1-3).
 Singing and Praying in the Spirit (1 Cor. 14:14-15).
o We sing with our spirit in tongues, releasing mysteries
the Holy Spirit will unveil in the right timing.
o We sing with our understanding from the scripture,
releasing a prophetic anointing and making the word of
God come alive and become an effective weapon against
the powers of darkness.
 Training and cultivating anointed prophetic musicians
and singers.
o King David spent much time and financial resources
developing the anointed musicians, singers and
intercessors (1 Chron. 25. 1-3).
o This flow of the Spirit is not automatic, but takes
discipline and training just like anything else. It comes
through focused, intentional training and impartation by
being around other, mature prophetic musicians and
singers.
o It is not enough to have worship as a warm-up to
prayer, or to just have background music. Musicians
and vocalists must learn to cultivate a prophetic spirit
from inside themselves.
 Antiphonal Singing with Prayer.
o This involves team ministry which develops a flow
amongst the members of the worship team.
o The singers and musicians respond to the spoken prayers
by singing them, and then developing them with
language and imagery that enhances or digs deeper into
their meaning.
o Antiphonal singing is what is happening around God’s
throne (Rev. 5:8-14).
 Praying with authority by agreeing with God’s heart.
o Praying prayers rooted in the prayers in scripture as a
foundation/launching point.
o Accurate information about God’s heart for a people or
area is important to partnering with Him in intercession.
Informed intercession plays a role in the “harp and bowl”
model.
o Being discerning as to what is happening in the area, and
taking note of prophetic words and actions happening in
the area.
 Spiritual warfare should always remain Christ-centered.
o We have authority on earth, but not yet in the second
heaven (Psalm 115:16). We focus our prayers or
proclamations directly to God, not demonic powers.
There may be exceptions, but this is a general rule.
o Our basic spiritual warfare is done by agreeing with
God, enforcing the victory of the cross, and disagreeing
with the enemy.
 The necessity of using biblical language.
o Biblical prayers are actual prayers in the text of the Old
and New Testaments. They are the language of God’s
heart in prayer.
o Always avoid “preach prayers” or “teaching prayers.”
o Biblical prayers are always positive prayers.
 Developing a holy boldness against the powers of darkness
o We must not ever be fearful of the enemy, his tactics, or
his retaliation. We must have boldness to stand against
the enemy’s activity against the people or region we are
praying for (Matt. 11:12).
o The combination of devotional desire for His presence
and this militant, fearless spirit will unseat powers of
darkness and release delivering power into the region.
 We must have an absolute conviction that revival is
already coming.
o This faith and confidence is essential to establish and
maintain 24/7 prayer.
o Faith is an absolute for breakthrough to come.
o We must understand that to see revival (“speedy justice”)
come, we must be sold out to the thought that 24/7
prayer is not an option.
 An understanding that structure and leadership is a
necessity to facilitating 24/7, enjoyable prayer.
o This “harp and bowl” method of prayer is established to
give a structure to open and maintain the highest level of
Holy Spirit flow that can be attained for a 24/7 schedule.
o A good and effective structure helps TEAMS of people
cooperate better with the flow of the Holy Spirit as it
aids the entire team and room in boldness, faith and unity.
o Human life itself flows from the structure of our hard,
rigid skeleton. The solar system stays in exact place
because of unchangeable laws that govern gravity and
motion. In God’s creative order the right structure only
helps and enhances spontaneity.
