2.1: Know Your Animals Rational: The purpose of this lesson is designed to give students an understanding of animals and their offspring and the characteristics each animal consists of. It is important for students to have a basic understanding of the wildlife surrounding them, along with unfamiliar animals of different areas Objectives: Terminal Performance Objectives: 1. Students will be able to identify difference types of animals they are not familiar with. 2. Students will be able to identify the different offspring of these animals. 3. Students will be able to identify and name several characteristics of different animals. Enabling Objectives: 1. Children will be able to identify a picture of an animal when held up. 2. Children will be able to name some characteristics of the animal in the picture. Lesson Activities: 1. Students will find different animals with their offspring in magazines, cut out and glue in journal and label parts of the animals. 2. Students will look through informational books on animals and their offspring. 2a. Students will get in groups. Each group will be assigned an animal and it's offspring. The group will draw a picture of the animals, list characteristics of the animal and how the characteristics help that animal survive in its surrounding. Then groups will present them to the class.
