CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANTS
Glasgow Caledonian University has had a strong relationship with the Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants for a number of years, including having had a teaching commitment since the 1970s. The University
has sought to provide high quality, intensive courses geared to providing quality education to those seeking a
professional career in management accountancy. The Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS) is a
recognised CIMA Learning Quality Partner of CIMA.
Entry Requirements and Exemptions
Admission to the examinations is limited to registered students of the Institute. CIMA now operates a flexible
entry policy meaning that there are no minimum entry requirements, but a good standard of maths and
competence in the English language will be required before the course is started.
Students intending to take their exam in November must register with CIMA by 31 July. If you plan to
take your exam in May, you must register by 31 January.
Specific application for exemptions should be made directly to CIMA via email to
CIMA.contact@cimaglobal.com, telephone 020 8849 2251 or post to: 26 Chapter Street, London SW1P 4NP
Please note that, due to the work involved, we would recommend that students study for a maximum of two
papers per semester, rather than three, at operational/managerial/management level, although this is dependent on
each student’s individual workload and circumstances. Please note that we do not offer certificate level courses.

basis. Trimester A and Trimester B run independently of each other such that there is a separate student intake
for each Trimester and students can attend one or both as required. There is no intake in Trimester C.
Students who attended course(s) in one Trimester and who wish to attend for course(s) in the next Trimester
should contact the Programme Administrator - they will be emailed a one page ‘Continuing Student’ application
form to complete and email back to the Programme Administrator.
