Plastic crates, dustbins, plastic foldboxes; Bubblewrap for wrapping objects, dustsheets,
general packing materials. Gloves to protect hands from sharp edges.
Carrying straps, webbing, trolleys, tarpaulins, bubblewrap, polythene, gloves, wooden
blocks wrapped in polythene, handling grips for mirror glass, leather rigger’s gloves,
kitchen towel.
Sack barrows, heavy duty plastic or canvas bags. Dustbins and dustsheets for
chandeliers. Rigid crates. WD40, kitchen towel, Ethafoam/Plastozote,
Vinyl gloves, carrying straps, webbing, bubblewrap, foam, blanket, polythene, T bars,
metal and wire cutters.

IN SITU PROTECTION
Polythene sheets attached to wooden battens
Large pieces which will be difficult to move can be
placed under large pieces of furniture such as tables.
Raise feet using wooden blocks wrapped in
polythene. Cover large pieces with bubblewrap,
polythene, tarpaulins, polythene sheeting stapled to
wooden battens.
Dustsheets and pre-made boxing for larger items.
Polythene draped over and behind painting.
Large pieces of sculpture: place on floor, against wall.
Plywood or boards can be used to protect from falling
debris.
WATER: Protect with polythene sheeting and
polythene sheeting and wooden battens.
FIRE: Do not cover with polythene, use fire blanket.
Roll and leave by wall or sheltered position, covered
with polythene. Raise on polythene covered wooden
blocks to keep clear of water.
Sand bags and absorbent cushions to prevent water
reaching wall paintings.
