The deadline is October 20, 2011. The Fourth International Conference on One-dimensional Nanomaterials (ICON 2011) Grand Skylight Catic Hotel, Beijing, China, Dec. 7-9, 2011 Conference Website: http://icon2011.ustb.edu.cn/ Conference Background The ICON 2005 was organized by Prof. Li-Chyong Chen of the National Taiwan University, Chinese Taipei, which had over 15 internationally invited speakers and over 200 participants. The ICON 2007 was co-organized by Professors Lars Samuelson, Reine Wallenberg and Knut Deppert of Lund University at Sweden, which had over 30 international invited speakers and over 150 participants. The ICON 2009 was organized by Prof. Zhong Lin Wang of the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, which had over 30 international invited speakers and over 250 participants. The ICON 2011 will be held at Grand Skylight Catic Hotel, Beijing, China. The conference will be chaired by Professors Ze Zhang, Yue Zhang and Zhonglin Wang. We have invited more than 30 world wide leading scientists in the field for delivering keynote and invited talks. Scope Of The Conference One-dimensional (1D) nanomaterials, including but not limited to nanowires, nanobelts and nanotubes, represent an important and broad class of nanomaterials at the forefront of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The most representative 1D nanomaterials, for example, are carbon nanotubes, silicon nanowires and ZnO nanowires/nanobelts. 1D nanomaterials can be rationally and predictably synthesized in single crystal form with all key parameters controlled during growth: chemical composition, diameter, length, doping, growth direction, possibly surfaces, spatial distribution and patterning, and choice of substrates. 1D nanomaterials thus represent one of best-defined and controlled classes of nanoscale building blocks, which correspondingly have enabled a wide-range of devices and integration strategies to be pursued in a rational manner. The ICON 2011 is about the forefront research and inventions in rational synthesis, structure and property characterizations, device fabrication, system assembly and novel applications of 1D nanomaterials in nanoelectronics, nano-optoelectronics, nanophotonics, nanopiezotronics, biomedical sciences, sensors, nano-enabled energy technology (solar cell, thermoelectric, piezoelectric nanogenerator, energy storage), and environmental sciences.
