Celtic Connections 2014

16 th January – 2 nd February

FUNDING THE FESTIVAL

Celtic Connections benefits from significant public and private sector support to ensure the ambitions and aspirations of the festival are realised.

The festival benefits from significant investment from Glasgow City Council, Creative

Scotland and EventScotland because of the positive impact the festival has on the social, cultural and economic climate of Glasgow and Scotland.

Thanks to funding from Homecoming Scotland the festival will be welcoming the world in to what will be the largest Celtic Connections event in the history of the festival, a spectacular one-off International Burns Night Celebration at the brand new

SSE Hydro. Homecoming Scotland 2014 will offer a year-long programme of events celebrating the very best of Scotland’s food and drink, our fantastic active and natural resources as well as our creativity, culture and ancestral heritage. Homecoming

Scotland 2014 will position Scotland on the international stage as a dynamic and creative nation.

Once again, EventScotland will provide valuable support to Celtic Connections in

2014, enabling the festival to target visitors from outwith Scotland and drive tourism during the normally quiet post-festival period.

Culture Ireland, the agency responsible for the promotion of Irish arts worldwide, is supporting the participation of some of the best emerging and established Irish artists at this year's festival.

Media Partners the Sunday Herald, Evening Times, The Herald and

Heraldscotland.com continue to provide in-depth preview and review coverage of the festival. The titles provide valuable support to up-and-coming talent performing at

Celtic Connections, with the Sunday Herald supporting the festival’s New Voices commissioning strand, and the Evening Times supporting the Danny Kyle Open

Stage.

The BBC has supported Celtic Connections since its very first year and the festival is pleased to collaborate once again with BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 2 and BBC

Radio 3 who will all be broadcasting live from a new hub the CCA in Sauchiehall street at the heart of the city during Celtic Connections 2014.

As well as a five night residency at the start of the festival, BBC Radio Scotland will broadcast the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year awards live from the festival. BBC Radio 2 will also join us for a residency with two live programmes and

BBC Radio 3 returns with the popular live broadcasts of World on 3.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and VisitScotland also support the festival by raising its profile, both internationally and throughout the UK.

First ScotRail has supported Celtic Connections from the beginning, bringing artists and audiences from all over Scotland to Glasgow for the festival.

Education Partners: In addition to the support of Creative Scotland, the Celtic

Connections Education Programme is supported by the Celtic Connections Friends and Educational Institute of Scotland, enabling thousands of school children to enjoy free in-school workshops and experience live music at education concerts throughout the festival.
