METHOD OF TAKING SAMPLES:
1) Bacteriology (taking samples from the respiratory tract, urogenital tract, GIT, skin changes,
conjunctiva, etc.)
- samples for bacteriological testing must be collected on tampons with Amies medium
- blood for haemocultivation is taken in a sterile manner into EDTA or special sample-taking sets
- samples for mycology are collected into test tubes with a special medium for fungi (Fungi Quick) or on
tampons with Amies medium
2) PCR test
A) Chlamydophila, herpesvirus, calicivirus, Mycoplasma, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, etc.:
- swabs from the respiratory tract, conjunctiva, genitals onto a dry tampon
B) Coronovirus:
- feces, rectal swab on dry tampon, fluid from chest cavity, abdominal cavity, EDTA
C) Borrelia, Toxoplasma, Leptospira:
- 1 ml of blood into a test tube with EDTA, biological material
3) Genetic tests (HCM, PKD, PK, PRA, GM1/2, Color panel, Blood group, etc.)
- 1 ml of blood into a test tube with EDTA, oral cavity swab onto a cytobrush
4) Imunochromatographic tests (detection of antigens and antibodies)
- testing of blood (1 ml of blood into a test tube with EDTA, plasma, serum)
- testing of feces (Giardia, Cryptosporidium) – mixed sample of feces collected every other day in 3
collections
- conjunctival swab, nasal swab (Chlamydophila) – swab onto a dry tampon
5) proBNP
- plasma (transported in ice)
6) serological tests (detection of antibodies)
- 1 ml of blood into a test tube with EDTA, serum, plasma
All sample-taking sets (Amies, Fungi Quick, cytobrush, dry tampons, etc.) will be provided on request.
Transport of samples to the laboratory:
- blood samples must be collected in test tubes which can be closed well; the top can be sealed using Leukoplast
- samples of feces: feces must be stored in an impermeable container or in several bags
- swabs in Amies medium: the tampon is to be put back into the test tube with the medium, packed in a bag
- cytobrush (brushes for mucous membrane swabs) to be put back into their packaging or a clean envelope
- dry tampons: to be inserted back into their packaging or a test tube
Label all samples with the name of the animal or owner, and the type of sample. Put the request form and the
samples into an envelope or parcel containing bubble wrap. The samples can be sent to the address of the
laboratory via DHL.
Sending samples for testing:
Test results are sent according to the instructions on the request form: to the veterinarian or owner in the form
stated on the request form (e-mail message, text message). The original protocol will arrive together with an
invoice to the person paying for the test.
How to pay for a test:
– before the assignment of a test, a laboratory worker must be contacted via e-mail and the required test must be
arranged, as well as its price. The payment takes place via bank transfer before the start of the test or in cash
together with the samples.
