Robert Birt Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who plans to enter a college,
university, or vocational school. Recipients will be selected by members of the Elwood Area
Foundation. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient will
furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood Area
Foundation.

Bonnie V. Clark Memorial Scholarship
This $200 scholarship shall be utilized for students who are attending a college, university or
vocational school. Recipients will be selected by members of the Elwood Area Foundation. The
scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient will furnish grades from
first semester and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

Velma Schroeder Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is available to a graduate of Elwood High School who will be attending a college,
university or vocational school. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The
recipient will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to the
Elwood Area Foundation.

James J. Leggott Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is given in honor of James J. Leggott who was a long time member of the
Elwood Community; he was owner of Leggott Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Elwood
Christian Church. Mr. Leggott believed deeply in actively supporting the community of Elwood and the
organizations that supported that community. The recipient must be a graduate of Elwood High School
and must be plan on attending the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Kearney, or Omaha. The recipient
will be selected from students with mid range class rank. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient
the second semester. The recipient will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration
for second semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

Robert and Barb Wade Scholarship
The Robert and Barb Wade Scholarship has been established by Mr. Robert R. Wade for the purpose
of awarding a $1,000.00 per year scholarship, renewable for up to four years, to a graduating Elwood
High School senior who enrolls in a public university, college, or community college within the State of
Nebraska. The scholarship may be given only to a graduating senior who ranks in the upper ½ of the
class, is a United States citizen, shows qualities of good character and leadership, demonstrates an
aptitude of academic achievement, and has participated in extra-curricular and community activities.
Financial need may be considered. Payment will be made after successful completion of the first
semester or term of the freshman year with a grade point average of 2.5 or better, based on a 4.0
grading system, and after providing proof of enrollment for the following semester or term.
In the event the recipient does not meet the required GPA, a probationary term immediately following
the recipient’s first term, will be granted. If the recipient’s 2nd term GPA meets the scholarship
requirement, the scholarship will be awarded following the probationary term.

-6Robert and Barb Wade Community Scholarship
The Robert and Barbara Wade Community College Scholarship has been established by Mr. Robert R.
Wade for the purpose of awarding a $500 scholarship each year to a graduating Elwood High School
senior who enrolls in a community college or trade school within the State of Nebraska. The
scholarship award is renewable for up to two years, making the scholarship worth up to $1,000.
Consideration for the scholarship may be given only to a graduating senior who ranks in the upper 1/2
of the class, is a United States citizen, shows qualities of good character and leadership,
demonstrates an aptitude of academic achievement, and has participated in extra-curricular and
community activities. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need. Payment of this scholarship
will be made after successful completion of the first semester or term of the freshman year with a
grade point average of 2.5 or better, based on a 4.0 grading system, and enrolled for the following
semester or term.
In the event the recipient does not meet the required GPA, a probationary term, immediately following
the recipients first term, will be granted. If the recipient’s 2 nd term GPA meets the scholarship
requirement, the scholarship will be awarded following the probationary term.

Home Agency Future Leader Scholarships
Home Agency Future Leader Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500. Students must fill
out the application, have graduated from Elwood High, plan on attending a college, university or
technical school. In addition, application must include a brief letter of application stating future goals
and thoughts on the importance of being a productive member of his or her community. In the letter,
please include specific strategies you believe will help you to become such a member now and in the
future. Please include a resume. Lastly, applicant must be available for personal interview by Home
Agency if requested. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient
will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood
Area Foundation.

Chad Hambidge Scholarships
The Chad Hambidge Scholarship is a $200 scholarship for seniors at Elwood High School who are
planning to attend classes full-time at a college, university, or technical school for the fall semester
after graduation from High School. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester.
The recipient will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to
Elwood Area Foundation.

Elwood Swim Team Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who was on the Elwood swim team for
four years and on a high school swim team for two years and who plans on attending classes full-time at
a college, university, or technical school. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second
semester. The recipient will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second
semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

Centennial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is given to a graduate of Elwood High School who plans on attending classes fulltime at a college, university, or technical school. Financial need is a consideration. The scholarship will
be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient will furnish grades from first semester
and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

Leonard and Darlene M.Schutz Scholarship
The estate of Darlene M. Schutz and the Elwood Area Foundation, Inc. has created the Leonard A.
and Darlene M. Schutz trust fund. It is intended that the interest earned on the trust and expendable
trust funds will provide a minimum of one renewable scholarship each year to a graduating senior from
Elwood High School. The amount may vary each year and will be determined by the amount of earnings
from the trust. The initial scholarships will be set at $3,000 and may be renewed for a total of four
years providing the recipient continues to meet all requirements. The scholarship will be held by and
disbursed through the Elwood Area Foundation, bearing the names of Leonard A. and Darlene M.
Schutz, long time residents of the Elwood area. The renewable scholarship will be awarded to at least
one Elwood Public School graduate per year enrolling at any accredited university, community college or
approved technical school, in or out of state.
Criteria:
 Be a graduate of Elwood High of the current year or start college within 16 months of
graduation.

Start school within 1 year of completion of a term of active military Service.

Plan a career and course of study in Education or the Medical Profession.
 Follow the necessary application process and meets all other criteria as outlined by the selection
committee;
 Provide proof of enrollment and progress toward a degree plan, and maintain a minimum of a 3.0
GPA for renewals (up to 4 years). Request for award renewal must be made in writing, to the
Elwood Area Foundation on or before June 1st of each year; and

Maintain the required 3.0 GPA. An applicant, who does not, may re-apply for renewal after two
consecutive grading periods. Funding after this probationary period would be at the discretion of
the Board of the Foundation.
The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient will furnish grades
from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

-12Lois Brainard Thomas Memorial Scholarship
The Lois Brainard Scholarship is a $200 scholarship for a senior girl graduating from Elwood High
School. The scholarship winner will be announced at the Elwood High School graduation ceremony. The
award will be made to the recipient at the beginning of the second term of the first year of the
recipients’ post-secondary studies. The recipient must be attending an accredited post-secondary
school, which includes a college or university, community college or trade-oriented school. A
preference (not exclusively) will be given to a student pursuing a career in child-oriented studies, fine
arts, or nursing because of Lois Brainard’s interest in those areas. A sincere and excited interest in
pursuing other areas will be strongly considered. The award will not necessarily be based upon the
grades of the student or her class ranking, but consideration may be given to past activities of the
applicant which indicate interest and commitment to her chosen field of study beyond high school.

Robert Salisbury Scholarship
The Robert Salisbury Scholarship is a $500 scholarship for seniors at Elwood High School who are
planning to attend classes full-time at a college, university, or technical school for the fall semester
after graduation from High School. The scholarship is for a student who is planning a career in an
agricultural related field. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The
recipient will furnish grades from first semester and proof of registration for second semester to
Elwood Foundation. Request or payment should be made to: Cynthia Evans, P. O. Box 244, Elwood, NE

Renata and Wilbur Brell Scholarship
The Renata and Wilbur Brell Scholarship is a $200 scholarship for seniors at Elwood High School who
are planning to attend classes full-time at a college, university, or technical school for the fall
semester after graduation from High School. The award shall not necessarily be based upon the grades
of the student, but shall also take into consideration the past activities of the student which indicate
interest and a commitment to his/her chosen field of study beyond high school. The scholarship will
be paid to the recipient the second semester. The recipient will furnish grades from first semester
and proof of registration for second semester to Brells. Request for payment should be made to:

Wesley and Evelyn Fox Scholarship
The Wesley and Evelyn Fox Scholarship is a $500 scholarship for seniors at Elwood High School who
are planning to attend classes full-time at a college, university, or technical school for the fall
semester after graduation from High School. This scholarship is for a student who plans a career in
agriculture or to be a family consumer science teacher former known as a home-ec teacher. The
scholarship will be paid to the recipient the second semester. The scholarship is conditional upon the
recipient receiving a 3.0 for the first semester. The recipient will furnish grades from first semester
and proof of registration for second semester to the Elwood Area Foundation.

-16Elwood Booster Club Scholarship
Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to students who are graduating from Elwood High School and will be
attending a college, university or vocational school. Applicants must have maintained a "C" average while in High
School and have lettered in a high school activity. Scholarships shall be disbursed to the educational institution of
the scholarship winner’s choice only after the applicant has provided proof of academic success in the first
semesters classes (a 2.0 or equivalent grade point average) and proof of registration for second semester classes
at that school.

-17Elwood Rodeo Club Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is graduating from Elwood High School and will be attending a
college, university or vocational school. The pursuance of an agricultural course of study is not required to be
eligible for this scholarship. Qualifying students must plan to attend classes fulltime at a college, university, or
technical school for the fall semester after graduation from high school.
Scholarships shall be disbursed to the educational institution of the scholarship winner’s choice only after the
applicant has provided proof of academic success in the first semesters classes (a 2.0 or equivalent grade point
average) and proof of registration for second semester classes at that school to Elwood Rodeo Club. Should the
scholarship winner fail to meet all of the stated conditions, the scholarship shall be awarded to a designated
alternate. If an alternate is not eligible, no award will be made .

-18Elwood Theater Dinner Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who are graduating from Elwood High School and will be attending a
college, university or vocational school. Applicant must have participated in the dinner theater in any capacity and
must have maintained a "B" or better grade point average in high school. Scholarships shall be disbursed to the
educational institution of the scholarship winner’s choice only after the applicant has provided proof of academic
success in the first semesters classes (a 2.0 or equivalent grade point average) and proof of registration for
second semester classes at that school.

-19Pinnacle Bank Scholarships
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to students who are graduating from Elwood High School and will be
attending a college, university or vocational school. Applicants must have 2.5 GPA or higher. Scholarships shall be
disbursed to the recipients after providing proof of academic success in the first semesters classes (a 2.5 or
equivalent grade point average) and proof of registration for second semester classes at that school.
UNIFORM APPLICATON
A cover letter along with a 500 word essay on how the money would help the student in pursuing his or her
education is required.
*All scholarships are conditional upon recipients receiving at least a 2.0 for the first
semester of his or her freshman year unless specified otherwise within a specific
scholarship.
