Venturi: Cast iron, 2 1/2-inch and above, 150 psi, quick disconnect valve, metal identification tag on chain giving pipe size, flow rate, and meter reading. Design flow rate reading shall be between 10 and 40 inches of water, with a permanent loss of 25 percent of indicated flow rate differential. Accuracy to within 3 percent. C. Pitot type: Type 316 stainless steel, insertion pitot tube type, with quick disconnect valve, metal identification tag on chain giving pipe size, flow rate, and meter reading. Accuracy within 3 percent. D. Application: Where indicated, at the Contractor’s option provide either venturi or pitot type of water flow meter. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION - GENERAL A. Provide water meters, thermometers, and pressure gauges where shown on the drawings. B. Install all devices as required and as recommended by the equipment manufacturer. C. Extend all connections, wells, cocks, or gauges to a minimum of 1 inch beyond insulation thickness of the various systems. D. Locate all instruments so that they may be conveniently read at eye level or easily viewed and read from the floor or from the most likely viewing area, e.g., platform, catwalk, etc. E. Install instruments over 6'-6" above floor, to be viewed from the floor, with face at 30 degrees to horizontal. 3.2 INSTALLATION - PRESSURE GAUGES A. Provide instrument gauge cock at inlets. B. Locate pressure gauge taps for measuring pressure drop or increase across pumps, coils, etc., as close to the device as possible. 3.3 INSTALLATION - WATER FLOW METER A. Install devices in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, with sufficient upstream and downstream straight pipe to obtain accurate readings. B.
