Area of Interest : Development of new supported catalysts, nano metals and metal oxides for the organic transformations; Development of new chiral ligands and organocatalysts for asymmetric reactions; Synthesis of heterocyclic based metallocycles and its catalytic and biological applications, Eco-economical Processes. 12. International Collaboration : CNRS-France; RMIT-Australia 13. Recent Significant Achievements: The main objective is to develop new catalyst materials that perform catalytic reactions to achieve the highest possible atom economy in an effort to realize cutting edge technologies and to meet stringent environmental specification in pollution abatement. Innovative catalysts thus designed for a given reaction offer innumerable opportunities both in laboratory and industry. Asymmetric Catalysis Basic: The work involves a design and synthesis of new complexes (homogeneous as well as heterogenisation via immobilisation of the resulting complexes on natural and synthetic hydrotalcites, nanomaterials for asymmetric hydrosilylation, epoxidation reactions. The work also involves a design and synthesis of new ligands from inexpensive amino acid and their metal complex for the asymmetric reactions. Organometallic Chemsirty Basic: Design and development of new hetroatom substituted alkynes for the preparation of novel annulated heterocyclized metallocycles (Pd, Pt, Ru). Prepration, characterization and applications in catalysis, material science and bilological activity. Highly stabilized Nano metal particles in Catalysis Basic: In order to stabilize high surface active nano metal particles, various methods and stabilizing agents are known to prevent agglomeration during catalytic reaction. In this direction, we developed highly dispersed and stabilized nano metal/ metal oxide form inorganic composites, single source precurssor for catalytic organic transformations. These catalysts have successfully displayed superior activity to the tune of 5-20 fold excess than the currently known expenssive catalysts including noble metal based catalysts.
