6th Grade JOURNAL ENTRIES
During each month you will be able to choose from the list of topics found in the WRITING
section of your binder. You may only choose each topic once.
Entries will be given a
+,
, or
-.
To earn a + your entry must be:
At least 8 complete sentences.
Your sentences begin with a capital letter and end with the appropriate punctuation (., ?,
!)
Your sentences must have a subject (who or what did it?) and a predicate (what did they do
it to?).
Neatly written:
You used your best cursive writing.
You may also type your entry and staple or tape it into your journal.
Show excellent effort:
Your sentences are on topic and make sense together.
You make an effort to include interesting details and sophisticated vocabulary.
You make an effort to apply spelling strategies.
To earn a

Most of your sentences begin with a capital and end with punctuation.
Most of your sentences have a subject (who or what did it?) and a predicate (what did they
do it to?).
You made an effort to sound out difficult words.
Your writing is neat and/or your typed entry is stapled/taped in properly.
You wrote at least 8 complete sentences.
