We announce with pleasure the 6th edition of the International Film Festival “Bridges’’.
This year is essentially a projection Bridge of creation’s of modern Seventh Art’s
screenings in Athens at ‘Alkionis new star cinema and other special art venues across of
Greece, in cities, Kiato, Loutraki, Rethumno,Kozani, Trikala, Livadeia, Naxos,
Alexandroupolis, Halkida and Ptolemaida. The ceremony of Golden Pegasus awards and
the screening of the winning films will take place in the hall of Old Parliament in
Nauplio on 25 October at 19.00 with free admission. The spectators will have the unique
opportunity to watch creations of talented films-maker from around the world. Some
films will be displayed for the first time nationwide in the festival. The highlight of this
year’s festival is the international competition section, the jury in which internationally
renowned personalities from the film industry will attend and consists of:
1. Vivek Singhania - producer, screenwriter, director from India
2. Hu Xueyang - director, actor, producer, screenwriter from China
3. George Roberson - filmmaker from Canada
4. Dimitris Kalantidis - journalist, film critic
5. Deppy Vrettos - responsible for cultural and entertainment program of Hellenic
Broadcast Organisation
6. Thanasis Rentzis - director, producer, screenwriter
The committee's mission is the promotion of the winners in the category of feature films
"GOLDEN PEGASUS". In that category the participant directors will do great and
important progress in other international film festivals. Pegasus in ancient Greek
mythology was considered the horse of the Muses which rode poets and flew to stardom.
For this reason, the "Golden Pegasus" is awarded to a film that stands out for both. Its
artistic value but also its ability to travel and to be distinguished in other film festivals.
The International Film Festival "Bridges" request this year film fans who are interested
to be in the independent jury and to express their interest until Sunday 11/10 at email
address: corinthfest@gmail.com, so as to participate mainly in the category of short
films.
The International Film Festival "Bridges" creates multicultural bridge through the
Seventh Art in Greece and around the world. The International Film Festival "Bridges"as
it is an institution in an open dialogue with all the creative bodies of cinema, but also
their authorities could have only developed communication with other film festivals and
film clubs. A powerful connection implemented between the organizers, the artistic
product and its expectations about a perfect cultural result extends to a wide range.
Filmmakers who have participated in festivals such as the Olympia International Film
Festival for children and young people, the International Festival of Athens and
Thessaloniki, the Short Drama Film Festival, Chalkis Documentary Festival and also the
Cyprus International Film Festival have submitted their projects and Festival "Bridges" in
the form of an artistic partnership between the festival. A unique relation is grown in that
way.
Furthermore, giving our attention in the expansion and spread of our festival nationwide,
the categories for this year's competition section are limited to: a) in short films, b) in
feature films "Golden Pegasus" and c) in World Cinema "Bridges". The thematic category
"Panorama" includes fiction and documentary films out of competition. The festival and
the jury prize can add an award in any category.
The awards are planned to be given to short films are:
1. Best Short Film
2. Best Direction in a short film
3. Best Photography in short film
4. Best Greek Short Film
The awards in the category of feature films "Golden Pegasus" are:
1. Best Production Design
2. Best Sets / Costumes
3. Best Music score
4. Best Editing
5. Best Script
6. Best Actor in a leading role
7. Best Actor in a second role
8. Best Actress in a leading role
9. Best Actress in a second role
10. Best Cinematography
11. Best Direction
12. Best Firstshown Director
13. Golden Pegasus
The International Film Festival "Bridges" aims over the years:
a) to promote and support young Greek filmmakers,
b) to create an important annual appointment of Greek and international filmmakers, film
fans, the local community and other cultural organizations,
c) to show the cities where screenings are held as new film travel destinations,
d) to make a CITY BRAND for the city which repeatedly will host the International Film
Festival "Bridges".
