Senior Pharmacy Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:
1.0
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists Pharmacist in the performance of routine pharmacy activities, including
clerical and inventory duties.
2.0
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1
To assist with in-patient and out-patient dispensing according to the Policies
and Procedures of the Department and the Hospital.
2.2
To assist with stock control within the pharmacy, according to the Policy and
Procedure of the Department.
2.3
Assists with ward stock supply and assumes responsibility for the
pharmaceutical stock on the ward which they are assigned to.
2.4
Helps with stock supply to other Pharmacy sites.
2.5
Assists the Director of Pharmacy, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and
Senior Clinical Pharmacists, to identify and solve departmental problems and
areas of need for service development.
2.6
To help supervise the technicians in their duties.
2.7
To assist with the preparation of technician scheduling and the late duty rota.
2.8
Assists with aseptic and non-aseptic pharmacy manufacture when asked to do
so.
2.9
Performs other appropriate tasks and duties that are assigned within their
levels of skill, abilities and knowledge.

Participates in late duty rota.

Participates in a rotation system between pharmacy sites.

Is able to use the Pharmacy computer system for dispensing and for stock
management.
2.13
Assists in the preparation of near expiry drug list and liquidation of soon
expiry drugs.

To perform other appropriate tasks and duties are assigned within their levels
of skills, abilities and knowledge.
HOURS OF WORK:

The post-holder will work a 48 hour week on a rota basis.
REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications or Relevant Experience:
4.1.2
A Degree or a Diploma in Pharmacy or the equivalent of these.
4.1.3
Five years experience in a hospital pharmacy in minimum 200 bedded
hospital.
4.1.4
A good standard of spoken and written English.
4.1.5
Familiarity with Microsoft Office is essential.
Personal Qualities:
4.2.1
The applicant must be able to work as a part of a team.
4.2.2
The applicant must be able to work unaccompanied and show initiative
when dealing with problems.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the category indicated
above.
